How is it calculated?

  • Net profit = Sale price ÷ (1 + VAT) − Cost − Commission − Service fees − Shipping − Return allowance
  • Commission = Sale price (incl. VAT) × Commission rate
  • Return allowance = Return rate × Cost per return
  • Margin = Net profit ÷ VAT-exclusive sale amount
  • Break-even price = the sale price at which net profit is zero

Where does your sale price go?

With the values above, starting from the VAT-inclusive price, what remains as each cost is deducted:

Line by line

VAT

The VAT inside the price the customer pays is not your income. Profit is calculated on the VAT-exclusive sale amount; enter product cost, shipping and service fees excluding VAT too, so both sides use the same basis.

Commission

n11's commission varies by category. If you also sell the same product on Trendyol, enter each channel's rate separately; the difference between channels usually comes from commission and service fees.

Service fees

On top of category commission, n11 charges a marketing service fee and a marketplace service fee on the sale amount. Because they are percentages, their amount rises with the price while their effect on the margin stays the same.

Shipping

For low-basket products, shipping is the cost that cuts the margin most: 45 TRY of shipping on a 300 TRY sale excluding VAT is 15 points on its own.

Return allowance

A returned order is more than a cancelled sale; it leaves round-trip shipping and packaging costs. Multiplying that cost by your return rate and spreading it over every sale brings the margin closer to reality.

Your questions answered

Divide the VAT-inclusive sale price by one plus the VAT rate to get the VAT-exclusive amount, then subtract product cost, commission, the marketing and marketplace service fees, shipping and the return allowance. What remains is the net profit per unit.
